Choosing the right type or brand of Fluorocarbon for fishing can be not only tough on your wallet, but also can result in loosing the fish of a lifetime. Bass Fishing Hub takes fishing serious so we want to lend a hand in helping you choose the best fluorocarbon line for any fishing situation.

As you read thru this article we will go over our top 3 best fluorocarbon lines for bass fishing. All of the products have been tested by our staff and some of the choices may surprise you!

#1 Trilene 100% Fluorocarbon Professional Grade Fishing Line

Top Rated Fluorocarbon Line

Bass Fishing Hub's number one choice for fluorocarbon line is Trilene 100% Fluorocarbon Professional Grade fishing line. One of the major reasons we continue to choose this fishing line as our top pick is the price. At $15 per spool it is often $10 dollars cheaper than other "premium" brands. Since we like to change our line more frequently to reduce the amount of line fatigue, or spinning the easier price point just simply makes sense.

Another bonus is we can generally get this line from Walmart or on Amazon and get it shipped anywhere fast. Typically we use 8lb - 17 lb version for most of all the applications we need. Another tip we found is that when we use this line as a leader for tying to smaller braids or a swivel the knot strength is amazing. There seems to be a smooth coating which helps lubricate the line when cinching knots.

Features of Trilene 100% Fluorocarbon Professional Grade Line

  • 4-25 lb available pound test
  • Ultimate Invisibility - Similar refractive index as water so fish can't see it.
  • Ultimate Impact Strength- Proprietary 100% PVDF formula specially processed for the ultimate in impact strength

  • Abrasion Resistant - Tough and durable

Pros Of Trilene 100% Fluorocarbon Professional Grade Line

  • Cost Effective To Change Frequently
  • Without a doubt the most affordable and strong fluorocarbon on the market.
  • Easy to throw
  • Berkley has used a coating or conditioner to the line which allows for very smooth casting from either a bait caster or spinning rod.

The Bad Of Trilene 100% Fluorocarbon Professional Grade Line

Trilene 100% Fluorocarbon Professional Grade Line does have some negative qualities which is very similar to other fluorocarbon lines.

Cold water temperatures or cold air temperatures can cause the line to get rigid and brittle. I would recommend not using fluorocarbon when water temps are below 40 degrees. The other negative quality of Trilene 100% Fluorocarbon Professional Grade Line is that you must spool the line correctly or you run the risk of having major twist in your spinning reel.

If you happen to run into this issue, simply cut your fishing lure off and trail the line behind the boat and let your line out. Then, you can wind the line back in after all the twist is gone.

#2 Seaguar 100% Fluorocarbon

Top Rated Fluorocarbon

Seaguar was one of the largest producers of Fluorocarbon fishing line for both freshwater and saltwater applications. I have personally used Seaguar for Tuna fishing and Bass fishing and the stuff rocks!

Seaguar InvizX 100% Fluorocarbon features

Seaguar InvizX is designed to be fished into rocks, weeds and docks, but be invisible.

  • InvizX can handle the toughest waters with a main line fluorocarbon designed with unparalleled abrasion resistance.
  • Smooth and limber
  • 8-25lb test sizes.
  • InvizX - fish can't see it, stuff can't break it.

Pros Of Seaguar InvizX 100% Fluorocarbon

Seaguar certainly has the clearest fluorocarbon that I have found on the market. I really like to use this line when I am fishing floating docks with clear water. Just like the name says this line is tough as nails. This is my go to line when fishing floating docks on super clear lakes. Skipping baits under and to the back of docks is hard, but when you hook a giant fish I can be sure that my line can withstand chaffing off a fish from metal pilings. The extra abrasion resistance is key and my go to for these situations.

The Bad Of Seaguar InvizX 100% Fluorocarbon

The price is the major problem that I have with this fluorocarbon. At $25 plus for a spool I would rather just re-spool my reel twice with other lines for the price. As with other fluorocarbon fishing lines cold weather really likes to cause a rigid line. I would avoid it during the winter months.

P-Line practically wrote the book with fluorocarbon fishing lines for bass fishing so they naturally have a really great product. This is without a doubt the smoothest fluorocarbon that we have ever used and gets the nod for most of our spinning rods for that very reason. From drop-shoting, wacky rigs to shakey head fishing this stuff rocks!

Best Spinning Rod Fluorocarbon

Here are some more features of P-Line 100% Fluorocarbon...

  • Very low stretch
  • Almost 100% invisible underwater
  • Superior knot strength
  • Very abrasion resistant

Pros Of P-Line 100% Fluorocarbon

One of the major issues with fluorocarbon on spinning reels is that the line jumps off the spool. Not with P-Line 100% Fluorocarbon. The smooth supple line spools on nice and stays on the spool, say goodbye to wind knots! 100% Invisible Underwater Because P-Line Fluorocarbon is 100% Fluorocarbon the line does not absorb any water. This leads to the line being almost completely invisible underwater.

The Bad Of P-Line 100% Fluorocarbon

This line is hard to find in stock in stores. The only option most of the time is to find it online. Bass Fishing Hub regularly stocks this amazing line. Make sure when you find it in stock that you buy all you can!If you want to order some click here.
